We’re so so pleased to be welcoming Omer Ido back for a very special Moroccan Jewish Supper Club at Honey & Co Daily on Tuesday 22nd April.
Chef Omer Ido grew up in a Moroccan-Kurdish household, and his cooking is deeply rooted in this rich heritage. Born in Jerusalem and now based in London, he founded Pergamon restaurant in Jerusalem, worked at Little Duck The Picklery in Dalston, and is currently part of the team at ROVI, as well as running his own Supper Clubs, most recently at The Yard, Dusty Knuckle. Since Omer last cooked with us he has launched his Supper Clubs under a new name: Aleph. Aleph translates Omer’s upbringing in Jerusalem – rooted in a half-Moroccan, half-Iraqi household – into a culinary language of warmth and hospitality. Dinners are simple, wholesome, and feel like home. Omer is a rare talent and one of the most soulful cooks we know – his cooking has the power to transport us to older, warmer times, and we are thrilled to be able to cook with him and bring his food to you again.
This time around, Omer will join us to cook a Moroccan Jewish feast. The last Supper Club was such a huge success, we are so looking forward to hosting him again. Together we’ll be cooking his matbucha, frena bread, ja’aluk, slow-cooked lamb neck, handmade couscous and more – all a labour of love, made with lots of care and no accurate recipe, like a typical grandma – and we’ll finish the feast with a selection of traditional sweets for Mimouna, the celebration which marks the end of Passover with sweetness and cheer.
